Essential Void looks at the correlation between visual and audio representation. The ideas behind these photographs and soundscapes are based around the theme of memories and in particular the lack of clarity of one’s long term memory. There is a necessary void, a lack of detail, which separates our recollections from the present, a mist of more recent events that clouds the mental image formed from our memories.
These ambient soundscapes, created by Trvth, have been composed in a way that evokes a similar atmosphere and sense of ambiguity to what is seen in these photographs, relating to the ambience that surrounds our partially obscured memories, an atmosphere which is enhanced by the varying emotions felt when trying to recall and visualise particular places or past events. The changing moods heard throughout the album are representative of the emotional mental journey that one might experience when attempting to recall a particular series of events; memories which are perhaps impossible to recall in as much clarity as we might wish.
Each piece relates to a particular image and has been composed with the intention of representing the same atmosphere of the picture it relates to, expressing similar emotions to those which inspired the taking of each individual photograph. The photographs I have taken represent the mental imagery formed from my own clouded memories and were inspired by my own feelings and emotions. Trvth has very carefully captured the atmosphere of these images in audio form whilst incorporating his own interpretations through his music.
